Today is my day off and Charlie and I headed out at 8:30 this morning to see what we could find. We have not had a lot of luck lately but it did rain last night so i decided to hit the river bank and then get up on the higher trails that overlook the site. At the river, we found one that seems to be in pretty rough shape. i will post that one later because i am certain many who are not familiar with this areas points, will believe that its a simple rock.I don't want to spoil the happiness that comes with this one  Anyway, while up on the trail, walking the exact same spot that we walk at least three times a week, I spotted one of many white quartz "rocks" protruding from the mud. I just knew...... like instinct that it was something great. I took a photo with my cell phone camera then pulled it from the dirt and man!!! Was I excited!!!! I am not sure of what kind it is, but its the largest point of this type of quartz that I have found yet. Molly...... I bet you know what the type and age is :D So, my lesson learned is..... use your flip stick to flip over everything that you see in an area known for artifacts.... especially after the rain! To think that I have walked over this point for two years now :o I hope you enjoy it and all comments are appreciated. Charlie and I are exhausted and starving hahaha. It's now 1:30 and we have been walking all morning. Time for lunch and a rest.

Yeah, like you said, lesson learned. I keep going to my favourite spot and they seem to pop out of the ground one by one. (Except my spot's still under 3 feet of snow!) Charlie seems to be saying, "Yeah, I knew it was there but you never ask me for my opinion." Nice find!

I hope that snow melts soon so you can get back to finding them. yea.... Charlie gets all of the credit in the end because... I only go where he leads me  Thanks for the comments and good luck when you get back to your spot.

I would have to go with a Savanah River (VA Type). At first I thought it might be a Morrow Mt Straight Base, but those are usually thin with parallel flaking. So I would go with Sav R.
Its a nice find AB, no doubt on it being a spearhead or blade/knife has some ppl prefer.
Congrats, keep looking in that spot. I can walk a field up & down not missing a spot. Then after the rain walk it again & find points I know wasn't in sight the last time I hunted it.
This as taught me not to be discouraged if I don't find anything, because I know after the rain, it refreshes the field again, like new..

Gotta love this hobby.

Molly.

nice find airborne, I agree with Molly, that's either a morrow mtn., or savanah river, nice work charlie, good boy.

Thanks Molly. It has really re motivated me in terms of that particular spot. I had started to believe that I had found everything that was not buried. i can't help but imagine what lays under the surface of that site. Thousands of years of use as a summer village and fishing site. Now I will do a rain dance and get back out there. They are calling for rain this Sunday I believe. Charlie and I will be getting wet for sure. :D

Wow great post and point. Your cell phone pics made me feel like I was there as you plucked it up after many many years. Thank you for sharing your find.

Thank you Tnmountains. I am happy that you appreciated them. I know that the cell phone camera is not the preferred one for these things but is small and so easy to carry. i always take pics like this when I find points. I want to record that one moment when a human hand touches a thing that was last held... who knows how many years ago. I love that feeling :D i think of the person who made it and carried it. How he spoke a language that I would not understand and how he would not understand me and yet he lived ten minutes from where my house is. How cool is that? I picture where we have come in terms of technology and how this point was the equivalent of the Apache helicopter in its day. It was as good as it got! Thanks again for your thoughts and stay safe!

Yea..... that's the thing about the material in my area. So many of the points are made of not so pretty material and they look so crude. The white quartz is plentiful here but as you say, not easy to work with. I just love it when I find nice one like this. They made a lot I know because i also collect the white quartz flakes which are everywhere. I have filled three large glass vases and they make beautiful decorations. Oh and..... you are not alone. Charlie has his crazy moments hahaha. In fact, as i write this he is tugging at my arm trying to get me off of the computer! he hates it when i talk on the phone or sit at the computer. He wants 100% of my attention at all times.

sounds like you have a good friend, you have reminded me that i have a quartz piece,i didnt find it it came in a rock collection i bought at an estate sale here in tenn, didnt pay it much attension but now im going to have to dig it out and take another look.looks different than yours though ill show it to ya when i find it jamey

As many here will tell you..... and I am not ashmed hahaha.... Charlie is without any exaggeration my favorite life form on this planet. I mean it..... if something happens to him..... I'm going to have to be institutionalized. I love this guy!! Yea....... if you find your quartz item, please throw it up here. The best part of the white quartz in my opinion is that its easier to find, as it really stands out in the water and the dirt.
