Awesome Nickel Error - can someone ID this for me?

Hey Guys,

Been finding some cool stuff lately. Here's one of 'em. is this post mint wear, or was this a case of a thin planchet? I would say greased die but that wouldn't explain how thin the nickel is. the error is on the left and a normal nickel is on the right (for the side view pic). thanks all, got some more stuff to post soon -SFB

I'm thinking acid bath.
 

What is the weight?
 

very interesting! will have to get the weight at work tomorrow. I have access to acid so will try to mimic this nickel and will post the results. in my experience, this was a long soak in concentrated acid, it takes awhile to remove a large portion of coin
 

I once left a nickel in a vinegar and salt soak for an extended period of time and it looked very similar to this.
