I guess I will beat the Grim Reaper with this one.
You have what I call a "give up". It is a preform that the Native picked up and took a few wacks at and chunked due to the poor quality of the material.

I believe they used stuff like this to break bones for marrow. Possibly even busting skulls, even skinning.
If it has been worked, it goes into MY collection!!!!
 

yeah a buddy found it in uhwarrie ntl and i gave him a beer for it,that was 20 cans,er years ago

I agree with Ed. It looks like they were trying to thin it and couldn't get that huge stack off of it so they probably discarded it. It nay have been used to crack open bones for marrow though.
