Thanks for some memories with this thread. Wish I had kept one or more of my "older" detectors. Swung my first one way back in 1966.
Oldest Tesoro I have is an original SS from 1983, while it isn't exactly stock, still finds a goodie now and then when I use it.
I have a Myty Myte that is new in the box. A well known swinger who frequented organized hunts back in 80's won thousands of dollars swinging one of these $69 detectors. Mine works, has the original headphones also.
Oldest detector in my stable is a 1974 "Relic King" that came off our assembly line. Hard to find batteries for that dude now, but it still works also.
Since 1980, no matter what "brand/model" I migrated to, I find that I always returned to Tesoro. That original SS mentioned above was the second SS off the assembly line and was used for a field test way back when. My reason for using the Tesoro line is that I seem to find more goodies and less trash when I'm holding some model of this brand.
