We have a large flock of wild turkeys that hang out in the back yard -- the last time we counted there were 16 hens and 6 big toms. The hens have mostly been AWOL for the last month or so, and we hoped they were sitting on eggs.

Well today one of them came to visit, and brought her whole brood!

Here's a grainy pic taken through the window and back yard fence, then a short video of them hunting around.

Heck of a flock.

Had them around regular for one year. predator(s) must have used thier roost to advantage.
I'd watch a parade most mornings.
The first following hunting season i'd ogle the young of the year ; but of course left them alone.

If all the other hens have this many, we're going to have a LOT of turkeys. (I'm OK with that...)

Here in Tennessee we have a lot of turkeys and deer still showing up to eat the corn I put out but no sign of young from neither yet.

If they're like the ones here, they'll keep coming all summer, but less often than in the winter.

One of the deer that comes to us for corn has gotten pretty wide lately. She hasn't been to the house in a week or so. I'm hoping she'll have a new pair of twins with her when she comes back. She has had twins every year she has visited.

Our national bird if I ever get a time machine. I always liked the idea of a flagpole being topped with the true symbol of America - a plump tom turkey cast in shimmering bronze.

Oh we have plenty of those too. Despite the hawks, the owls, the coyotes, and the dogs, squirrels and rabbits are plentiful.

Yea we counted 9 gray squirrels out on the corn pile a couple of days ago here.
