We would never have guessed we would end up with so many Roman coins from this field. It's hard for us to work out if this is a low yield Site missing some of the usual signs & finds or because the finds are quite linear that its associated with an unknown branch road from a nearby known Roman Road. Still some gridding left & the mapping might help.
(5 hours)

20 Roman Coins - 3 Album coins - 1 needed, & possibly rare...(It's not in RIC)
2 Crotal Bells, 1 early type
Roman Lead Steelyard Weight
Tudor Strap-end
18th C Leather Mount

I love it, the real deal. Thanks for the always interesting posts, and it's a pleasure to watch the knowledge come pouring from your posts.

That said, I really like that bling buckle in the second photograph;) and the scrappy coppers are also very cool man!

BEAUTIFUL!

Incredible finds,,
It's amazing how your research continues to put you on these sites.

On this occasion it wasn't research, more desperation. It's one of only 3 fields that are ploughed & available. We have tried it in the past & only had a couple of scrappies (& its not a Site, you could find by research, nothing on Google Earth & no Archy material on it), so it dropped to the bottom of the pile. Now we have no other choices, we are gridding anywhere available. These finds were really spread out & took acres of gridding to find, but it has been worth it. Its an approach we do this time of year & sometimes it may take days of gridding for it to come good.(You only need 1 good find to make 10 acres worth covering)

Final scrappies added to top.

An amazing assortment of finds! Thanks for sharing.

how deep did you find those roman coins? Am going to Italy and hoping my ace 250 will have the depth capacity to find them. Thanks and congrats!

Funny you should say, I picked at least 8 from the top/sticking out of the ploughed soil. Dad & I had a discussion at 1 point that I had more off the top than buried. No eyes only, but I have done in the past.
So the moral to this story is ploughed land, ploughed land, ploughed land....
As for Italy, its illegal to detect most of it.

Really awesome, Roman finds are amazing ! Congrats and HH
