Back at the Old Camp Site

It's supposed to snow tomorrow so I'm glad I was able to get out and swing the detector a bit today.

I've now found a number of these ornate decorative things. Any ideas as to what they were used for. Strictly decorative? Looks like they used to have a gold color. Anybody ever find similar looking items. looks like they are from the same mold.

How about the silver strip? Looks like a flattened ring but it is a little thin. Maybe a silver band that went around something. It's certainly nice looking and was a suprise find among the musket balls, iron targets etc.

I haven't found any coins in a while. I'd love to add to my seated coin count at this site (currently at 12 halves, 1 quarter, 1 dime).

Hello Winslow!I dug a piece of one of those Saturday,and have dug them before,and knew what they were but for the life of me cant put my finger on it again! (A good friend and expert,just reI.Ded the piece for me,they were parts to a Whale oil or Lard lamp.I see a nesting weight there,should be marked on the rim,or inside bottom...maybe 1/8 ounce?? The silver band looks Chinese?

Leave it to you to identify the nesting weight! Couldn't find a marking on it though. It read high on the detector between a quarter and a half. Probably a copper alloy. Thanks!
