I took two guys with me today, it was a mud fest. Lucky for me I found the LC on my very first target I dug. I also found a blowhole button and a concave one.
My one friend Joe found two Merc's, Washington Quarter, and a very cool looking Eagle button! The other guy who I believe might be a new member with us now, (he's trying to work out the techy stuff) found two buttons before he left us. He was parked in a different spot, maybe he found more and hopefully he can post some pix?
I'll post Joe's pix first

I'm hoping things will dry up, might be too cold, very sticky, Herman Monster boots makes for a difficult time.

Enjoy the pix

Looks like you had a great hunt! And mud makes for an easy dig! Congrats on some nice winter finds, well technically "Winter Eve" finds. The Winter solstice is tomorrow...Brrrrr.

Some very nice finds there! Were you able to date the LC. Looks like and 1827 or 1837 perhaps.

Thanks, cold below freezing nights, long term forecast looks like a heat wave.

Looks like you found a companion button to the one I dug on Sat. (http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/524717-cherry-pick-button.html#post5223287). Mine measured 16mm and judging from your picture I'd bet yours is 22mm. The eagle design and the way the shield stands out is identical. Love to see it when it's cleaned up. Nice finds!

HH
Thanks, I did not find it, my buddy Joe did (the button, Merc's, Wash)

Congrats on the old copper and buttons
Thanks Art

Thanks, where are you, Maine? Scoop up Abe and drive down!

The closest I could find on Relicman's site is a Horstmann 652, general service, 1875-1893. Hope that helps some. As I said before, it's almost identical to my Scovill 930. That really pointy shield stands out among the other styles.

Looks like 1827 to me, I've had it in a hot oil bath all night, later I'll get some oily pix, I have to run and get my blood work done so I can eat and have coffee!

He found an earlier 1852-1877 IDK I didn't see either yours or his resources? Thanks for looking, no matter what the date, it is a cool old military button.

Damn good hunt...
Thanks buddy

Congratualtions on the nice relic hunt! :occasion14:
