Went back to my site, the hay is getting higher... found a pocket spill with a 1916 Barber Dime, and 1917S and 1920 Merc's...

The 1917S, is the 3rd one at this sight.....

Later found the 1923 Merc. in a hole with the Buffalo nickel.... finally a 1948 Rosie, while it started to rain... End up with the

Dime Trifecta.... Barber, Mercury and Rosie.... Having what should be a record silver year for me... Happy Hunting and Good

ShaZammm! That's a wonderful hunt! Congratulations!

It was once a hotel and now a hayfield. Is it near a road or was it off the beaten path?

Dayamn! Nice spot you have there. I only see 5 silver dimes and the ring looks like junk.....did you miscount in all of your excitement or??

I sure hope that spot holds a 16d merc for ya that was dropped in 1916!

MUDSLINGER, it's on a good road.. all you can see is the walkway and car path... I got the name from a neighbor and found a postcard of it in 1945.. so it was built before 1945 ??? All of my silver from there (12) are between 1911 and 1948.. with most of them around 1917 to 1923....

Any advice? I'm on the longest silver coin drought I've ever been on. Great job my friend

Truth 1253, I had a silver coin drought not long my self.... go back to your best old spot... slow down and dig some of the iffy targets, you would normally pass up. I don't find silver everytime I go out... I have been detecting 28 years and learn something new every year.. I'm in the Catskill Mts. in new york

Real slow and low finds the silver

Nice silver hunt you had there.

congrats on the awesome silver and the buff

Yes with the AT PRO I agree very slow its so easy to get in the habit of swinging fast when you aren't finding stuff, The at will pick up silver dimes and other coins if you try going way slower keep the coil on the ground!!!! balance your pro at with sensitivity set 2 notches below max once balanced turn up to max sensitivity then manually turn ground balance don 10 so if your at 90 set it at 80 gives more depth, Run the wire from the coil straight up the shaft about 8 inches then coil it around the shaft snug also where the coil plugs into the box go straight down about one inch I use electrical tape. Always reset your machine before each use reground balance when you move to another area, Gold and coins ect on the at pro gold will not bounce VDI more than 2 or 3 numbers bottle caps pull tabs will vary and bounce a lot not evry single time but most. I can tell a bottle cap almost always. learn your machine even write down your vdi and how much it varied and what ii was read past posts on tips ect and research old sites learn your area ask the Old timers is the best way I like doing the woods and old camp sites and fishing sites baseball fields, garrett has a good book on researching your area, I put my silver in coin holders and I mark where I found them and when helps me to know good spots. When I go to an area I will dig most targets crappy signals even so I can try to date the site by what I find. Metal detecting is awesome but we also need are rewards that's a big part for me anyway. Sorry about the rant I know how you feel Ive been there and still get in silver droughts hope this helps a little Tommy

That helped a lot. I haven't been rewarded in awhile. I did find a gold ring nothing fancy but it didn't give me the rush I need like old silver gives me. It's been rough I tell ya....and to add salt to a wound I found my first 1875 Seated Liberty dime 2 months ago and it was counterfeit. At least it was counterfeited in the 1875 I found out. Lol Thanks again for the great advice.

I was the same I started going very slow and I went back to places I hunted out and was killing it cause those dimes the signal is faint and will be missed easily cause they are so deep also if you get an iffy signal pinpoint and remove a little dirt and se if the signal gets stronger. location location location!!!Good luck my friend youll get there!! Tommy

Congrats on the silver, i need to find more coin spills like this!

Thanks basssmann I'm gonna really have to slow down and keep it on the ground. I'm so desperate at this point I'm trying to cover as much ground as possible. Are you using a big or stock coil?
