Naturally, since it didn't rain today we had to go back to the field where I dug the 4 large cents. We headed back into the same area. Mark scored the first good target, an 1863 Indian. I scored two nice civil war tokens and Mark pulled 2 large cents. Mark also dug what looks like a large cent at first glance, but under the corrosion you can see silver. When dropped on the counter it sounds like silver, not like the other large cents. Then, finally I heard "SILVER!". I knew it had to be an early one. It was a nice 1838 seated dime. Way to go Mark. I also eyeballed a broken blade, would have been a big one intact. The usual flat buttons, copper, brass and iron whatsits.

Nice finds...I like that token!

Hey well done dayondigger :icon_thumleft:,
nice going on the civil war tokens. Being on the other side of the pond and not having seen one, how big are these large cents that you guys are allways talking about, say compared to a modern cent. Sorry for my ignorance :dontknow:. I would like to learn.

Thanks, here's a picture of a small cent and large cent together, along with some other goodies. :laughing7:

Bottle digging is coming up. We have an 1860 place and an 1840 place lined up. I can't wait to get started.

Nice digs, and I like the site photo. Looks like there could be one or two halfway decent iron relics in the pile, as well.
