Last week I posted about my end of the year finds on an old shoreline. The pickins' were good so back I went. I "only" found $1.28 face value, but included is a 1943 quarter, 4 wheaties, 1918, '41 and two unreadable. A 1926 Buff and two V nickles, 1905 and '12. A 1919 Mercury and my first ever half dime, a nice 1847.
The silver is black, the nickels are pretty poor, and the pennies are corroded. But the fun is in the find, right?

Nice finds, Im from S.I. but moved to Jersey 10 years ago. I am now doing winter research on SI love to detect and have found lots of good stuff there. HH

You must of had the disc turned up to miss the pull tabs or you might be also showing us a gold ring or two.

I had my Ace 250 set for jewelry and I always get my share of tabs. Believe it or not, I probably only dug up about a half dozen tabs here. In my earlier post I mentioned that this beach is not well used these days, not maintained at all.
What I did find, but didn't show, was bits and pieces copper, green nails, molten looking lead, lead fishing weights and the like, two bullet cases, but very few tabs. I didn't think posting pics of trash would be that interesting.
But to be honest, with finding coins that old, I thought for sure I'd find at least one piece of jewelry, even junk. Not yet.

Nice haul  The half dime is in great shape considering you pulled it out of the sand, nice score. Good luck if you return.

I think what saved the half dime was that is was found up high, right above the super high tide line. It didn't spend its life submerged.

That half dime is in awsome shape! That was a good outing for sure. :icon_thumright:
