Howdy all.
Swung by the park for a few hours yesterday and the only thing worth mentioning were 2 wheat backs. Today was quite different.
Started off good with the 3-ringer and then the finds were slow and steady throughout the day. The 1902 O Barber half is the find of the day. You may notice that in my signature I have a Barber dime listed on my "bucket list". This is because I've never found one. I've found 2 Barber halfs and a quarter so far, but not the dime. Also have a couple of seated dimes and plenty of mercury dimes, but no Barber. Funny how that works out. Today's half was in the trash near the sidewalk. The signal was solid, but I was expecting a can piece or a big chunk of brass since the park's been heavily hunted before.
Got 3 silvers to add to my yearly total today and another shield nickel. No date is visible, but that makes 2 out of this small park. The Washington is a 1935 D, which is semi-key, but not very valuable. The Mercury is a 1920.
I also found 3 civil war era bullets, plus a mashed one which is too cool. Got a nice skeleton key too. This town was held by the confederates during the only action in the area, so when those musicians/church uniform buttons came out I was really excited before I wiped them off. Dang it. I wanted a button with the Louisiana pelican on it. Oh well, always next time and I certainly am not going to complain about today.
Thanks for looking,
