Backyard produces World Coin & Naval Button

Hello everyone, I didn't find this today, rather a week or two ago. It was the last time, I was out hunting.
I'm a newbie, just picked up my first detector a Garrett Ace 350. I love it. Still working out the motions
and trying not to pick up my steel boots. I have a young son so detecting doesn't get the time I'd like.
But I did make it to my back yard, I live in Somerset NJ. I pulled up the Republik of Osterreich Coin 3" down and about 4" from the coin I pulled up what looks to be a navy button. I couldn't believe it! Still have a lot more yard to search, Its very trashy being the former owners of this house, use to have a Mechanics shop out back where he ran a business out of. So theirs TONS of pull tabs from beer cans, Twist offs and for some reason I keep coming across buried nails. IDK, but can't wait to get back out their.
Planing on taking detector over to a large park tomorrow. As long as you don't dig more than 2" your fine. And they do check.
So I hope you enjoyed my finds. I know I've enjoyed many of yours. If your ever in my area and looking for a bud to hunt with. Hit me up.

Nice finds and good luck on your next outing :icon_thumright:

Re: Backyard produces World Coin & Naval Button

My goodness.....it would be so hard for me to hit a nice good signal and not be able to dig because it was too deep.

Re: Backyard produces World Coin & Naval Button

keep on digging... you'll be surprised how mush good stuff you can find in your own yard

Re: Backyard produces World Coin & Naval Button

Thanks Everyone. The deeper targets are tempting to pass on, Its mostly Shale around here. And up until last night. I didn't know the exact area to dig when pinpointing. So I just dug the whole size of DD Search Coil. LOL But I saw on Youtube last night Garrett added some instructional videos for the Ace 350. So now I don't have to dig such big holes. The pro pointer is very helpful, but to get it close enough to detect was frustrating at times. Especially after digging lots of empty holes just to learn I was coming up to high at the ends of my sweeps. Picking up the metal loop guides on my boots. Needless to say I wear sneakers if I can. I didn't make it to the park as I wanted to today. Going to shoot for tomorrow. Once again thanks for your kind words. So happy I've found somewhere to talk to other MDist
