Today I proved almost exclusively that this site once had auto repair done here and other such circumstantial evidence seems to add credence to the rumor that renters once lived somewhere near here [see 1st photo].

Almost as soon as I dug one item in this group I became COGNIZANT of the fact that someone had dallied with a vehicle of some sort here.

From here on the finds went down hill.

I have what I guess is a money clip minus the money. I thought it was a barrette but my wife says Na.

Bullets bullets! This place has plenty. Can you tell me how old these are (just approximate date within minutes).

Lots of china shards and half of a metal comb. Heck, I sure could of used the whole thing!

Oh, last and least was this fossilized clam. It's kind of cool as it's mostly complete and you can even see the clams seam. But, it's much too tuff for soap. :'(

Thanks a bunch.

8) Badger: Just don't let on about the Location! Next thing you know, The IRS, DNR, MSU & U of M Archaeologists, The Smithsonian, & Don & Hank's Hiway Auto Parts will be bugging you about taxes, Bequests, Saving Your Historical Relics for Future Generations, etc.
Then you have to set up a Foundation to Govern the Hoard, Put together a Board of Directors, etc.

It's best just to take the whole haul into your house where you can toss it in the air while Screaming, "Mine, mine, all mine" at the top of your lungs. Then you'll have to learn how to live with your Wealth, & the Golddigging Women that will follow you around. It won't be easy.

Be Careful & Don't Forget Who Knew you when!!

Now at last! A truly awesome and superb comment! I note not only a kindred spirit but also someone who also realizes the stakes in academia are so small...oh yes!

I see your shifting gears and generating new places to hunt now.
Old car nuts like me will know what I'm saying.
Whew!! I hope you have a truck to haul that home. If not, you might be able to assemble one there. HH

The ground is just full of this stuff. I only dug a few to see what they were.

This is a vacant lot in between public buildings. There's probably something worth digging here if one has the patience to dig through all this crap. ;D

Great job ..........The farmers Historical Society will definately be interested in those Relics!

True treasure compared to what I have been finding lately...anyone need any extra ox shoes?

I dug enough ox shoes and horse shoes this year to make a wrought iron fence around my house.

I share your grief.

Badger,
Ya gotta dig up the junque to get to the coins. ;D

NIce Digs BAdger. Bet you wished you had a big shovel, when you dug that stuff.
I really like the money clip. I really bet that there are more good finds at that site.
What detector were you using. I bet when some of that stuff sounded off, it blew
your headset off.

Neat relics MB. Tsgman

;) ;) ;) Badger: There's some guy here named Battlecat trying to steal your thunder! He's got a few piddly coins vs your Awesome Find!

Nice collection...the bullets look like .38 cal wadcutter/semi-wadcutters...in my opinion relatively modern.

Great looking tie clip...solder a nice heafty gold chain to it with a button hook so you won't lose it.

hi badger Thats an awsome collections of relics and if you need more junk just m.p me and i will send you a ship load ;D ;D ;D

JUNKPAN

Thanks to all even those others ;D

I think the thing about this post that makes it okay is it's so...so real-life. I mean, it’s this type of stuff we all find most often.

But yet in its own way it's sort of interesting.

I really thought the clam would be the biggest hit. That is something. It's totally fossilized yet almost in perfect condition. I've never seen anything like it before.

But again, thanks!

You're right about it sounding-off ;D

I mainly hunt with the Nautilus IIB these days. I also like the Tesoro DeLeon and other brands and models.

Hey! Thanks for the tip on Battlecat's post. That is great. I'd missed it somehow.

As always I enjoy your posts Badger. Neat stuff. Definitely a tie clip, I found one (not quite as wide) a couple months back.

Any idea on the age of those auto parts?
