I found this bag seal in Bel Air, Maryland.
This and other evidence indicates the area has been farmed since at least 1800.
The printing on the lead appears to be all in German.
I know there is a great variety of such and identifying this particular seal requires a knowledge of seals as well as German.
Any information about the words and possible date of this seal is appreciated.
My guess is that it was used by a German immigrant farmer and, if correct, would place it in the early 1800s.
