No more! I'm here to tell ya, I'm way too old to be out in this heat and humidity. I'm going to wait for cooler and better ground conditions. Anyway... Twice now I have been to this old school, the first time right off the bat I found a 1854 Seated Liberty dime. Yesterday, no sooner than I got there heard a very interesting signal and dug it; a old broken square nail. I'm already sweating and sweat is dripping off my nose trying to fill the hole. Put the plug neatly back in and started on my merry way. Got a few steps away and I wondered if I rechecked the hole, I know I checked it with my Garrett pin pointer? Man it's hot; I probably did. A few more steps away, oh why not go back and make sure, it was too sweet of a sound to be an old nail (01-41). Went back and the signal was better yet, sweat is a drippen, heart a pounding. Reopened the plug I had dug 6-7 inches, pin pointer nothing; grabbed the Etrac and swept over it, still in the hole. Dug down another two inches and pried up the dirt and caught the flash of something very shiny and big. Heart a racing thinking; can't be? Might be, could be, IT IS, I'm stood... For some reason I'm not finding these nice coins with my Nox or standard Etrac coil. I'm hitting them with my 13" x 12" Tornado coil? With my elbow / shoulder problems, the Sunray X-1 pin pointer and big coil installed, it's miserable swinging after a few minutes. Pop goes the weasel. I've found a couple of Barber half's years ago but this be my first Standing Liberty half
Stay cool and hydrated out there folks!
