Llifter that mates with a high speed roller cam in a hot rod? Monty

I'd like to think you were on the right track, but I do remember the roller cam lifters I saw years ago were just that -- rollers, turning on pins, not balls held in a socket. And they would have been high quality steel rather than softer copper, so as to take the stress of a high performance engine. The only other thing that came to my mind was it may be a kind of detent that would hold a shaft or lever in a position ... think of how much you would not want your car to slip out of first gear on a hard pull... :-\

I agree. Detent ball. Could not be lifter. Maybe detent thing for inside transmission. Where did you find it?

Ohh................................. so that is where the detent pin went for my coil extension tube...............?

And I thought it was supposed to rotate around like that.....................
