Ball button?

Hey All! Got a chance to do some detecting this weekend and found what I believe is a ball button. Would like confirmation and see if anyone can come up with a date range. The area I was hunting had settlers dating back to late 1700's. Any info greatly appreciated!

Looks like a Suave button except for the shank.

I was thinking small bell too but doesn't look real modern. Can we see a shot of the bottom, opposite the loop? Of course, Crusader is used to finding stuff from Roman times so his idea of modern probably differs greatly from mine!

You know I thought a bell also at first but it's seriously old. Maybe it is maybe not. That's why I brought it to you experts. The patina does reflect whatever it is that it is old. Thanks for comments. New pics at top as requested. Thanks guys!
