✅ SOLVED Ball Buttons

Found these two ball buttons 40 miles apart. Both sites were active from 1600's to present. Looked in Tice, no types like these. Found little on ball buttons on Google. Any help appreciated. the smaller is 5/16 the larger 1/2".

Oh heck yah. I Like guessing, too.

Look for the words "maybe" and "possibly" or a question mark. They're there a good percentage of the time.

This will give you some info on ball buttons. I believe they were also worn on civilian clothes.

They were also used on some cadet uniforms.

Zouave troups often had ball burtons like that.

The Zouave New York regiment was in Brooklyn not to far west of here.
Duggap your link mentioned gilt and by eye, I can see they were gilded.
Have to look more into the civilian dress buttons. Thank You All for the info.
