Bamboo carved sculpture

What’s it for a carved bamboo bunch of bound bamboo 8 inch long each end has holes in the bamboo pieces they do not go right through . I thought it was resin untill I put a red hot needle to it . It’s a real quality piece of carving .no signature anywhere . Any ideas ??
