After the bank in which I have an account at told me a few weeks back they will now charge 10 bucks for a box of halfs, last week one of my non-account banks cut my dime boxes off because I am not a customer. This morning my account bank told me that I now need to order my penny thru quarter boxes in advance. This is a problem for me since I can only pick up on Saturday, and I don't always know in advance if I will even be home on a given Saturday. Had to go to another bank and feign interest in setting up an account to smooth the way for a box of nickels which they only give to customers. I got 28 pre 1960 which is the most I have gotten in a single box, but nothing special - I need a war nickel for my type set. I also got skunked on 10 rolls of dimes. 0n a high note I was dropping off an old box of halves from under my bed and I worked the reject tray on the 2nd machine which was not being used. I found a 64 dime. While they were changing the bags on my half-dollar dump, I dumped some misc coins in the 2nd machine and a few came out, dragging along with it some one else dumps and I got a second 1964 rosie. So while the banks are trying to run me out of the CRH biz I have a new and quicker way of getting silver - make small dumps at the coin machines and play for the rejected silver of others. In the past week I have 6 rosies and one silver quarter from the reject bin.

Sorry about the noose tightening. Banks are doing everything they can to save money. Congrats on the reject bin finds. Unfortunately my area is behind the times, and we have to re roll everything. There are tons of posts on reject bin finds, and I feel left out.

Nice score on the reject bin.

Today I had a bank want to charge me .50 cents a roll for half dollars, No thanks , I don't pay to buy money.

Well you have e new dump bank. They can not charge you for dumping or depositing if you have an account there.

I will use the dark force and this bank will go under, "Feds will take it"

you should be trying to by the bag of dimes at the dump bank
prob some silver in it

Damn that sucks Mercury, I ran into that f..... fee crap @17.50/box , it was not a new fee schedule from the bank itself just a new vault teller . But when I had another bank order me coins I have to the money in my savings account before they will order them for me ... that is new and a friend of mine that works there said they have been cracking down on a bunch of stuff and are really strict , Ed

Hope that you find a source to order coins from, best of luck .

I have found out that if you go through too many coins and get to many from one bank or drop too many off at one bank you are asking for trouble. I found that out early........ Right now Im at my max just because its winter and Im bored. But if you are one of those guys going through 10 Grand a week its no wonder the banks are getting pissed.

I've been having a hard time myself cashing in coins. I had two banks where I hold accounts refuse to take them. I spoke to a lawyer about this and was told there is really nothing you can do..unless you happen to trip and fall on your way out .
Only had one bank that told me that there may be a charge for halves ,but I was never charged.

Sorry to hear about that but good job on the reject tray. I've been fortunate so far, neither my pickup or return banks mention anything about F--s,but I know it's probably just a matter of time with the economy.Hope you can find another bank that doesn't charge you.

I was by a coinstar machine at the grocery store and a guy was dumping loose change and when he was done he checked the rejected bin like 10 times. I was thinking F#@#@! Cheap Bas#@#$@#$

Two banks where I was buying a box of dimes a week, started charging $5 per box. Won't be getting them anymore.

Haha. I check it everytime I walk by it. And I know I'm not the only here either. But hey we won't take it personal.
