For the last couple of months I've been getting 3 boxes a week from 3 different banks in my area. 2 of the banks are of the same affiliation and one is completely different. The 2 banks that are the same affiliation keep giving me skunk boxes while the different banks boxes give a good amount of silver. I know some of you would say keep getting the boxes and some day they will produce silver, but at this point I'm getting pretty tired of being skunked. How long would you guys keep this up until you stopped getting boxes from these banks?

cs15,
Are they Fed boxes, Brinks, what? I started an account with another bank
that orders from the Fed that has produced nothing but skunks, however
several other banks ordering from the Fed have been producing good boxes.
Not sure of the reason or rime. :-\

Trish, banks receive their coins in boxes with 50 rolls of coins in them.

Not sure were they are coming from. They are long with yellow lettering and the rolls are yellow and white. I should ask the next time I'm there.

CWI boxes. (Coin Wrap Inc.).
Why waste your time? Cut off the skunk source and look for another bank or double up at the good bank.
Common Sense ;)
Hope you improve your %.

Yeah if I had a few weeks of total skunks I would stop ordering from there. You are either getting a massive quantity of your own clad back or a massive quantity of someone else's dumps.

I have seen these boxes with CWI, String and Sons, or Wells Fargo rolled coins in them. Any of them can be good or bad producers of silver coin. I would look for another source for now though.

I was wondering if I might be getting my dumps back. I take them to a credit union that has a free Coinstar machine in the lobby.
The first couple of times I got the boxes at the "good" bank the boxes were square and I think they said Well Fargo on the side. One of those boxes gave me 48 40%ers. ;D Last week I picked up the box and it was a CWI box but it still yeilded 7 40%ers and 1 Walking Liberty. That box was dated April of 07. The skunk boxes haven't been marked in the last couple of weeks.

Just keep in mind that a collection or a bag filled with silver in some far off little town may only be a couple dollars away from filling and ending up with all those skunks.
There are no long term good banks/sources, its completely random, The best thing to do is increase your odds by looking for those small town banks and coin counters, and spend, get them deposited at banks that have a policy to not sell bags, get em too the fed, that way your dumps if your getting them back, will have some silver.

JD is right, the more halves that you actually spend in normal transactions equals more that end up probably not going directly back to the wrapping facility. They get saved because people think they are special, or they get deposited and sit in a bank a while or in a teller's tray or get dumped in a bank's coin counter and get bagged eventually.
