Went cellar hole hunting yesterday. I found 4 cellar holes, but the hogweed was way too high to get the coil down. On my way out, I tried my luck along the road going in to the settlement. The barber was just off the gravel road in a bare spot of field. To access the settlement, I had to drive across the salt water bay at low tide. While waiting for the tide to drop, I detected the roadway along the salt shore. Got a weird 04:22 on the Etrac on the surface. I flicked out a small disc, and after it dried, I could see "half dime"! It's in really bad condition as it has been driven over for most of its life. I can't get the camera to capture the date, but it's 1843 P. Thanks for looking!

you make finding old USA silver coins in Canada look sort of easy
I'll be the first to say it really isn't that easy to get one let alone two
congrats on pulling off an impressive feat!

Im guessing all you Canadians finding US silver must live close to the border. Probably too cold to live much farther north of that. Lol

Nice score on your first Seated Half Dime. Still searching for that elusive little bugger. Nice Barber too. Good scouting and scoring on those two keepers.:headbang:

Yes I do live close to the Maine border. Here are a few other pics from the day.

Way to go! Nice hunt and silver!

I don't think I've found a seated or Barber since shortly after they stopped making them. lol

Very nice finds! :occasion14:

Your hard work paid off- congrats on a "first"- hope there are many more ahead!

Congrats on both of those silvers, and your first Seated Half Dime.

Thanks folks. I'm lucky enough to find a fair share of US coins. Many colonial coins are American due to the loyalists from NY, NJ, MA, CT, RI, etc who made this area their home back in the 1700s. Most continued to travel back to their homeland years later to see family who didn't come over during the Rev war, bringing back with them the US coins
