Hello everyone . The hunted out park in town gave up some goodies! I found 2 barber dimes 1912 D and a 1905 O, a 1936 D Washington quarter that I wish was in better condition, 2 Indian head pennies and about 4 wheats. The highlight of the day was finding the complete National Guard Medal from 1914! I have another that is a little different than this one, but they are the only two to come out of the park to my knowledge. In 1914 there was a National Guard Encampment here that lasted a little over a week or so. The medal says "NatL Guard Encampment Natches, Ms 1914. Very excited to find this one. Had a great day detecting!

You might check to see if there is a National Guard Museum in your area, they would probably be thrilled to have the medals and you could get a tax write off. You could also consider loaning them for display. Either way a lot of folks would see something historical they would have never seen before. Great finds, Congrats to you!

Great finds! Love the silver and the medal.

It's really cool you have not only the medal, but the matching watch fob to go with it. Those would look great in a display with a photo of the encampment if you could find one.

Only bad thing about this Nola Ken. The only pictures I was able to find are on Micro Film from a local newspaper from the time. I have them somewhere. I must find them. I want to do some more research and see if I could find more information on the encampment. There isn't any history of it on the internet. Just the Micro film I found at the local library. That is a great Idea.
