Harry, I'll keep an eye open for these. How old are these and what were they used for? I have never dug one or even seen one in the shops.

I don't know what they contained, 'gleaner1' . . . a comestible of some sort -- mustard, preserves, etc. They're probably British, late 19th or early 20th century. I got the one on the left from a digger when I was in England years ago -- putting together this modest group has been a long-time proposition!
