I was proud to volunteer this past fall for this reenactment. It was my 50th birthday, probably my best birthday ever. Over 5000 reenactor's participated in this event. I took over 500 photos and finally got them downloaded to view. This is some of them.

Thanks for sharing these Digginman! I've only been to one civil war reenactment and it was so really I felt like I was actually there.

I have lots more, Gypsy. I'm still sorting them out. This was one of the best reenactments I have been to. I can't detect or dig on the property, but I have permission to hunt for ghosts on it. I'm looking forward to it.

The Cedar Creek battlefield is great. I've visited it twice but have never been to the re-enactment. My great-great grandfather visited it once (in 1864) as a member of the 138th Pa Volunteer Infantry. Great photos DM.

Hey R&T,

I live in Frederick County, near Winchester. I live near the Cedar Creek and Kernstown Battlefields. Alot happened in my area during the war. Winchester changed sides over 70 times. I am very near Warren and Shenandoah Counties. I work in Sterling and drive thru most of Loundoun County everyday.

The men who fought in that war had to have been some brave souls. There is no way I would simply stand in the middle of a field while people were shooting at me,,, I'd be gone...

Mr. Digginman, the photo resolution is great!. I understand that more troops passed thru Culpeper than any other county. I have access to some property in Culpeper. Recently, I sent my new Explorer SE (relic) and GPX-4000 (gold) back to the dealer that I bought from. I had the detectors for several months and were not used. I traded my GP-3000 in for the GPX-4000. Also, I had several PI coils, some were never used. Of course I took a hit of several thousands of dollars after I discovered that I was not a "Rocket Scientist" I was willing to pay for instruction on the Minelabs, but did not work out locally. I did not have the time to go out West for the necessary training. I'm in the process of getting a Fisher and Garrett detectors. Maybe some Whites later. It would be nice if there were "workshops" near Fairfax Virginia. I have access to some gold property and other CW property. If you or some other individuals want to "trade" hunting on sites, I would consider it. Just send me a PM. Keep up the good work. Thanks, RuffandTuff.

i must have missed this post before. very cool pictures! it really gives you a glimpse of what life during the war might have been like, although a lot cleaner and more comfy no doubt! imagine if you were allowed to hunt the battle field what might turn up! at any rate, this is a very cool post. im glad someone bumped it to the top!

Hello DM, Great Pics, I know the fields well. I'm right up the road in Winchester. We'll have to get together sometime to dig.

I'll be participating in a big hunt at Brandy Station soon - Diggin' In VA. I think some guys from this forum know about it.
