Hello TreasureNet! The 1800s finds have been finding me a lot recently. A welcome surprise from the usual Wheats and Rosie's.
My most recent and probably my find of the year (so far) popped up for me last weekend. Went to an older park in my area near the river. My friends had found some IHPs in this park in the past.
This park has been detected by many people over the decades so my hopes weren't that high. After about 30 minutes of making my way towards a hill and very large old trees i got a nice 90-92 signal on my Manticore. I was hoping for a silver quarter. HOWEVER as soon as I saw the coin and wiped the dirt off and saw the bust I knew exactly what I had found! AND It wasn't and IHP!
My first (and probably only) 1863 Civil War OUR ARMY TOKEN! AND She's not in terrible condition to boot. I was so excited as we were at it for 2 hours at a different spot with nothing to show for it. So glad we decided to switch spots.
Here is after a olive oil soak and light q-tip cleaning. Im happy with the results so this is how she will be displayed. Here's proof that no place is truly hunted out.

At a different park in another part of the state I found this head scratcher on my Birthday. The town nearby was founded in the 1840s and I assume this coin was lost by one of those first settlers.
It is a 1815 Dutch 4 Skilling. It reads RIGSBANKTECKEN For 4 SKILLING 1815. It rang up again at 90-92. Again I was hoping for just a silver quarter, but this is was better and probably another first and only find for me.
Here is a very nice Aqua Blob Soda that I pulled from the river a few weeks ago. It reads S. HICKEY & SON MILWAUKEE. This is the fourth Blob Soda I have found over the years. All of them being from different companies. Can't wait to get this one cleaned up.
Alas, while the river gives, it can also take...
The day after I found this bottle, we had the worst rain storm that our area has ever seen in recent history.
The sky dumped 14.5 inches of rain in 12 hours. The river overflowing it's banks and rising up to 15 feet in some areas. Many people lost their belongings or had significant damage due to flooding and sewage back up.
We live 4 blocks from the river that went from just knee deep the day prior, to being a raging torrent. Our citys sewer could not keep up and sewer water came up through our floor drain. We lost nearly everything in our basement.
Clean up for us took more than a week. Long days removing our furniture and belongings. Wall framing had to be removed and thrown out. Our basement is now gutted. Insurance is doing everything but help us. Our neighbors were all affected as well. The sense of community was reassuring.
As I write this post, the rain happened a month ago. We are finally somewhere back to normal and everyone is safe and healthy. There was a lot going on and I only managed this one photo of the street by my house. The river is 100 yards to the left of this image. The waters continued to rise after this as well.
Im glad to be able to share some of my finds again with you all. Its been a little while since my last post. Life happens. The treasure is still out there.
