Battlefield Relics

In 1999 I was hunting on P.P. in an area where the Brandywine Battlefield took place. This battle occurred on September 11, 1777 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Washingtons Army suffered heavy losses. The Balls & Shot were located about 100 yards from the Sandy Hollow area of the Battle. General Lafayette was wounded near here. One of the balls has distinctive line impressions on it. I have always wondered what caused them to be there. The ball appeares to have been dropped as it is not flattened like the others I found. I was hoping that someone here might be able to identify the lines on the ball. I think that these balls were fired by the Continental Troops as I was told that they normally used Buckshot. Thanks for a great site. While they are nothing but lead metal to others, it is nice to have a real part of our earned freedom in hand. Thanks !

Not a bullet expert...but would love to find them.....Way to Go!

Maybe striations (layers) that are in a sheet steel laminated bullet (ball) mold--best guess.
Nice finds anyway--love that history stuff.
