Battles of 'Backbone Mountain'
On this little 'ridge', two battles took place during the Civil war.
On Sept 1 1863, the Confederates attacked a Union force, but after a three hour battle, were driven off.
Then again in July 1864, the Choctaws (Confederates) attacked a Federal force & won.
The site is in OK, just SE of Ft. Smith AR
I have talked to folks that have found 'Artifacts' there years ago.
