Bay Beach Ring Find Gold??

Lots of targets. Got 2 rings, the one looks really old and gold. Don't know for sure as I don't have a tester. Any suggestions on cleaning??

9 quarters; 7 nickels; 6 dimes and 41 toasted pennies.



Also, want to point out that the temperature was 80 and water temp was around 64
Sure was a nice day but I'm kinda sore.

Pretty cool find! Looks like it's been through the grinder. Also it looks like an eagle or whats left of an eagle on the first close up photo. Update if you get any additional info on it.

It looks like it could have a boy scout emblem on the face of the ring. Or I maybe just seeing things.

Cool find for sure. Could have skipped the 80 degree remark though!

A very crusty ring. Vinegar is a start on the cleaning. I recently found a small white gold ring with sapphires marked 10k. It is the first gold ring that I have found with tarnish on it so I guess mine was in the ocean for a while. I soaked it in white vinegar for a while and the tarnish mostly went away. If it is gold, the mild acid in vinegar should not hurt it. Nice finds. Papa

Boil a couple cups of water in pan ... Add some iodized salt during the boil.
Once boiling, take a hunk of aluminum paper, put in boiling water.
pour couple tablespoons iodized salt on top ...
Place ring on the aluminum paper in the water.
Drop 2 tablespoons of baking soda into water.

Chemical reaction will cause soapy looking mix, let it boil several minutes.
Take it out, scrub down with toothbrush or rag.

Works great for crusty old gold and silver.

Don't think it is gold . Tried the boiling water and aluminum foil trick that Dew talked about and got carried away and almost lost it ,boy you have to be careful with chemical reactions
