My wife and I spent 4 days at the beach. I detected 2 different beaches, 1 in Delaware and one in Maryland. I got up early and detected each day and some days I got an hour or 2 to swing the CZ21 in the evening after dinner if we didn?t have other plans. All in all I spent 12 hours at beach D and 10 hours at beach M. There are at least 30 miles of beach to detect along the Delaware Maryland coast so lots of area to cover hoping for the good stuff to jump under my coil. Beach hunting can be weird sometimes with hot spots and large dead zones even though evidence that people have been on every part of the beach. I cleaned up a bunch of bottle caps while I was detecting. I was pretty sure the signal was a cap before I dug them, but you never know. Twice I scooped up the cap and found a quarter in the same hole.
In 12 hours of swingin the CZ21 Delaware produced a stainless spoon, some cheap jewelry, a car wash token, a Tunisian 5 millim coin, 2 silver rings, a silver earring, a Gucci watch and some vaping devices (the worst thing they could have invented). The ring on the left is marked ALE S925 so it is a Pandora silver ring with czs. The GUCCI watch is a 3000M model that I found on line for between $49 and $200.
The Delaware beaches also had World War 2 ordinance that gets pumped onto the beach when they do replenishment. Pieces of mechanical detonators from 40mm and 100mm shells, 50 cal. machine gun slugs, 40mm (17 pieces), 20mm (75 pieces) and 1 piece of 100mm traveling band or obterator from artillery shells. I had more fragments, but as people ask what I am finding I show them and explain what they are and if they are interested I give them pieces to keep. I have plenty and I just recycle the brass most of the time. Besides, if it makes them happy to get a piece of history it makes me happy.
You can see the groove from the rifling on the pieces at the left and the check pattern on the other side of the pieces (pieces on the right) to help them break apart when the shell explodes to make more shrapnel.
In 10 hours at the Maryland beaches I found a toy truck, more cheapy jewelry, including 4 rings, carabiners, an ear piece from some glasses, a vaping device and an iPhone. The phone looks dead, but I will dry it out and see if it charges. I doubt I will be able to get into it even if it does charge, but I?m curious so I will give it a try.
The coin count for the weekend was 352 with a face value of $38.77. A decent total, but I have done better.
My wife likes to shop while we?re at the beach and I do a little bit of shopping and then I spend most of my time walking around the parking lot seeing what I can find. This time I also decided to try checking out the coin returns on all the beverage and snack machines. The first one I checked had 6 quarters in the coin return so it was a good start. Later on I found another coin return with 3 quarters in it and not far from there I found a fourth quarter just laying on the sidewalk. One day I had done all the walking I wanted to do and i sat down to called my wife to find out where she was. While she was talking to me on the phone I?m looking out into the parking lot and I see this piece of familiar looking paper blowing across the parking lot. I get up and I run out and I chase after it and I finally managed to stomp on it and it was a $20 bill. I looked around and didn?t see anybody looking around like they lost money so I kept it. Keep your eyes open folks. You never know when an opportunity might present itself. Here are the eye detector finds. No good jewelry this time, but I have found gold and silver in the past.
We had a good weekend, with nice weather and I came home a little richer and had fun finding it all even the piles of bottle caps, tabs and foil. Of course 6 rings and a $20 bill did make it a little nicer. Thanks for looking, stay safe and may your coil lead you to good things.
