I use the hipmount made by Andersons....the little pouch/bag just doesn't hold up....gl and hh!!

I've used the yellow bag but didn't keep the Beach Hunter long enough to need another bag. It was a decent machine but needed a dive detector and the BH leaked while wading. The most aggravating thing about it is the coil is advertised as "near neutral buoyant" when in fact it wants to float like a cork. It had to be held down near the bottom, but the light weight was nice for above water searching. Thomas Jefferson1.webp

You know that just might work there could be a lot never thought of that...

I've seen many pics of people using the DF and the BH with the coil reversed. Here is one pic.

I've reversed the coil, added a sand filled sock to the shaft and tried it on the coil too. This added water resistance. Good thing about the sock is you could take it off if you wanted to search the sand. I just thought it strange that nobody else's coils float.

Anderson makes a coil weight now that fits both the DF and the BH for $30.00

Little bags of sand work great and are free

Sandman you sure you weren't the buoyant one...lol

I used sand sock on mine...

Being buoyant doesn't help with the arms holding the coil down. I'd rather be buoyant when stepping in a hole than sinking. LOL

I would think the sand filled sock method wouldn't cut through the water as well as the Anderson weight, being a disc shape. But would be easier to take off the sock faster, if wanting to switch over to dry hunting.

As others have said, the hip pouch provided by Whites is a very poor solution. I also purchased the Anderson Hip mount which I find works very good. It is not a pouch or bag, it consists of two curved stainless steel plates that fit really well on your hip. It was a better solution for me than buying a big pair of suspenders.
