I have the same question. I'm going to PCB and I've never detected on the beach. I know dry sand has different setting then wet sand.

Ky Red... Yea I have heard that to and that you need to ground balance if you in and out of the salt water a lot... I just really want to know what Pro mode most people use... and since your on sand and water the standard mode might be best and just dig everything if it's not a trashy beach???

What's up guys me and the family are taking a little family vacation next week to AL for some camping and will be going to the beach... My question is when you use the AT Pro on the beach do you just go to Pro Zero and dig everything? Or do you use Pro Coin and set a iron dis? Thanks guys and God Bless...
Look in the Beach and Shallow Water forum under the thread SALTWATER...run with the settings I posted there.

There is some info in the instruction manual. You can read it online for free at the Garrett website.

Pro Zero mode!
Different areas of the beach requires ground balancing as the mineralization changes from the wet sand, to the water, to the dry sand!
If the beach is really trashy you may want to know how to use your Iron Audio control!
Best of luck on your vacation!

Been hitting the closest beach for 2 weeks and found that hunting in std zero and ground balance in the dry and hitting coins at 10" 50/50 on junk. Meaning 50% to 60% of the time I can tell its junk after digging everything for the first week. Sensitivity one from max.

Wet sand or in the saltwater re-ground balance and lower sensitivity as needed. Goodluck!

Detect parallel along the beach. If you continuously go to and away from the water, you will encounter different areas of wet, dry, more mineralization and less mineraliztion requiring you to ground balance often. Detecting parallel along the water keeps more into the same type of matrix.

I dig ANYTHING on the beach that hits at 40+. Small rings will show up in the lower range... found 2 last week at 40-42

Yes what john said parallel for less grounding

Thanks for all the replies guys no the question is what scoop do ya'll use? I don't want to spend a arm and leg for one... :)

I have the Garrett stainless but will be getting the Indiana soon. Less bending over too dig and watching others with the long handled seems much quicker.

RTG aluminum Pro 6 inch is a good all around scoop for beach hunting...dry, wet sand or water.

What John and Lookindown said. A nice long handled scoop for dry an some wet sand is this screen type by RTG.
Beachmaster.webpIf I remember right it is called a Beachmaster.

Dig everything over 35. Pro zero, no disc.

Sent from my expensive phone I really don't need

Do you know if any of the larger long scoops are made with takedown handles for travel ??? Perry

Perry, I have tried two of the take down scoops, don't remember the name, but they freeze up and you need pipe wrenches to separate them. Grease didn't work.
