My gf thinks it's somthing women wear in their hair - on a bun . It seems to heavy to me . It's held togeather by brass wire and there is a clasp.... Any ideas ?

I remember seeing the "bun wrappers" as a child when they were being worn. My aunt had some, but they were all crocheted and were cloth or yarn. I'm gonna have to go with the bulb cover idea. They're made with no "burnable" parts, even strung together with wire. I don't get the clasp, though.
The small end is placed on the stem (?) then wired shut permanently. Once mounted, to change a burned out light bulb, you merely opened the clasp, removed the bulb, replaced it with a new one, then closed it up with the clasp.
