BEADS

Hi all,
I was at a site near my home when I found a pretty little shell bead hiding in
the sand and rocks. I went back to my car to retrieve a trowel. I took the advice
of a friend and began to gently scrape the general area around my find.
Things began to pop up here and there. I found two more shell beads as well
as some fossils.


I discovered some chrinoid fossils. I've heard that Native Americans would drill
the star shaped centers into holes for beads.The long one is a chrinoid before it was
seperated into individual discs.

The following photo shows some chrinoids that I found that I believe to be drilled.

Seen my first snake of the year as well.Last photo is of other fossils., HH Harry

Great looking Beads and fossils unitas. If you found three Beads in the same area means there are probably more. I would go back and dig around some more in that area and see if any more pop up.

I've always known them as water snakes. I don't know exactly what kind
but I know that they will bite.They aren't poisonous. We don't have anything
like that around here. I'm glad!

KILLER BEADS NEVER FOUND ANY AROUND ANY SITES LIKE THAT BUT I DO FIND PLENTY OF SNAKES THOGH
