Bean patch point

So there I am hand-tilling the weeds out of the bean patch isles before I left town when this guy makes himself known. Little quartz guy. What is the type? Limeton Bifurcated? Looked on the site the last few days and I can’t make up my mind. Central Va James River lowgrounds. Please and thank you. Appreciate all the help and info recently

I can't tell for sure whether that basal notch was intentional. It looks raggedy in the pic. Also can't tell how much damage is otherwise present at the base. Two-step taper is evident toward the tip. I'd say it's a little triangle resharpened toward the tip.

And yes this is an ugly point. Random flaking pattern—which looks even more crude since it’s quartz. This week I’ll have some better pics up. But the ugliness of this point is why I thought it could be a Limeton. It very well could be a Yadkin

I am not familiar with the Limeton points. Thanks for the link. That type is much older than the triangles I was thinking of (Yadkin/Levanna/Madison). From it's description and overall appearance, I see now why you think it is a Limeton. I like to think I'm a good typer but there's a lot of them that get by me. Many times on sites such as this, an incorrect response will generate more discussion than a correct one. So, we all will hopefully find out things we don't already know! Therefore, I'm not too hesitant to throw something debatable out here most of the time.

It can sometimes be difficult to assess when it isn't in your hand--and that goes for anything as we all know. But I've found a good amount of early-archaic stuff around here which is also why I think Limeton could be the answer. will still get a pic or two up. thanks man

Never found a point I didn't treasure.

It has some wear on both sides of the missing tip. That could indicate the possibility that it was utilized as a drill or tool-bit of some kind.

The wife planted it with some old coins to get you out there beaming lol. That's a cool find
