I headed off to an old spot I had not been to in a while. Brought my buddy Bartek and we both had some good success. I dug a great 1802 large cent. With the crud thickness I thought it was a liberty cap but no such luck. Enjoy

Wow, look at that Largie, she cleans up nice!!!
Great day out in the mud with you Steve, Thanks bud... I Got cortal bell, 3 Indians and a buffalo Nickel.

See you in few weeks!

That cent is awesome, and everything else as well.

That's a very nice collection of finds. I'm amazed at the condition of the large cent. You did a great job cleaning it up!

Yes, but I must emphasize it was a pre-1750's hand drilled crotal bell. Personally I think that was the find of the day buddy. See you in a few weeks

Coin came out beautiful how did you clean her??

It's very rare a coin comes out like that. Of the 150+ large coppers I've dug, I have 5 or 6 coins that came out that nice. Strangely the 6 other coppers I've found at that site have been pretty roached.

Occasionally the coin is protected in a scale, and a toothpick did 95% of the job. Some acetone for the verdigris and a special wax blend sealed the deal.

That LC is a beauty. By itself would make anyone's day.

Hi Scrapy; PLEASE shw us a picture of the Reverse of that 1802 LC. If it is right then you have an 18802 Die Crack Variety. Value, up to $35K. !!! Literally. It ppears to be a strong XF- 40 minus one Grade for Corrosion makes it a strong VF-40. $35K is about right. We await. PEACE:RONB

Great finds Scrappy! Gotta love copper.

So here I am looking at a beauty of a coin, cleaned up great....
Now reading that it could potentially be a knockout 35k coin....fingers and toes crossed!

Yeah , I was gonna say show us her backside , just doesn't sound right - could you show the reverse side of that beauty ?

Awesome finds, Steve. Especially that large cent. It is really in great condition.

Very nice, what kind of wax mix?

Nice finds, I wish the draped bust I got a few weeks ago had been that nice!

Awesome finds bud, hope Ron is right. Those LC's can at times be quite the puzzle to ID. See is one beauty of a Large Cent!

Great job cleaning the LC Steve-that one's a beauty.

Super job I love those keys out of all your finds. I bought a fake one when I was a kid at Greenfield village I don't know why but those are so cool. Ann Arbor was founded in about 1826 with a tiny population I wish we had some more history than that. any way great job Scrappy, Thanks for always sharing your great finds keep up the great finds!!!!!
