I headed off to an old spot I had not been to in a while. Brought my buddy Bartek and we both had some good success. I dug a great 1802 large cent. With the crud thickness I thought it was a liberty cap but no such luck. Enjoy

Never disappointed when I see a new post from you, Sweet LC!! I really like those skeleton keys too, Congrats!!3

That LC is a beauty. By itself would make anyone's day.

To Don. Could be my best Draped Bust Cent. I have another one that comes close, and that one is also an 1802.

Hi Scrapy; PLEASE shw us a picture of the Reverse of that 1802 LC. If it is right then you have an 18802 Die Crack Variety. Value, up to $35K. !!! Literally. It ppears to be a strong XF- 40 minus one Grade for Corrosion makes it a strong VF-40. $35K is about right. We await. PEACE:RONB

I added it up top. Give me some good news;)

Awesome finds bud, hope Ron is right. Those LC's can at times be quite the puzzle to ID. See is one beauty of a Large Cent!

Lol. That's because most of the time we look for a chin or a piece of wreath in an attempt to just get the type.

Wow them coins look great all cleaned up, nice work scrappy!

Great finds- that DBLC is beautiful!

Congratualtions on the cool relics and very nice old coppers! :occasion14:

I would love to know how you cleaned up the draped bust. I just dug one last night and would like to be able to clean it up more, so that it looks as good as yours. Please let me know how you cleaned that coin so nice.

Hi Scrappy; I wish it was the Die Break Variety. It is not. Yours is the Normal Reverse. There are 4 different Reverses.
They are : Values:VF-20 ACTUAL VALUES:
1802 - Normal Reverse $350 $225 - $275
1802 - Fraction 1/000 Reverse $600
1802 - Stemless Wreath Reverse $450
1802 - Die Crack Reverse $37K

Those are the Values as Listed in the Yeoman Red Book ok. Values in the Red Book are about 25% above actual Current Values so you have to adjust them ok. Check the other one. If it is the Die Break Variety you will see the Break located at the Bottom Right hand side from about the I in America to the Stem & Rim there ok. Good Luck. Nice Find. PEACE:RONB

Great finds ! That Draped Bust cleaned up really nice. Congratulations and HH

Boy...you hit the jackpot on condition...excellent find!

Killer hunt man! That DBLC is fantastic and probably one of the best dug ones I've seen. Those brass keys are also awesome... some of my favorite things to dig. I also REALLY like the wooden handle knife with those pewter or lead inlays. The wood handles I've dug have become brittle and fallen apart, so I started to preserve them with polyurethane. You'll want to clean it and dry the wood out really well... then I put some polyurethane in a zip lock bag... enough to cover the wood handle and I drop it in there for a few hours or day with the bag closed and no air in there. The wood will absorb the poly. Pull it out and let it dry. It'll make the brittle wood nice and hard so it wont fall apart over the years.

Great hunt man. :occasion14:

That sure is a pretty copper congrats on it and the other nice finds

Once again you amaze me with your finds.........
Is it all in the research?

Thx man.

So usually heavy research, and a healthy amount of permissions. Oh, an a whole lot of failure! Lol

Thanks DS. I did a new Gif of the cleaning process that looks better, but I can't seem to get it to work on TreasureNet.

That is a killer Draped Bust LC Steve!

Steve, since computers hate you, I saved the gif you texted me, emailed it to myself from my phone, downloaded it on my computer and now I'm uploading it for you.

Nice work dude.
