Aurora Aqua, Excalibur, Garrett CX2, Gemini-3, MFD's, Sovereign, Viper, E Trac, Dees Nutz rod, Tesoro Sand Shark. Pro pulse.
Once upon a time 2 Thr's decided to go to a local lake and check the swimming areas. Now these guys didn't want to spend all day wading around with the fishes so they decided to take their little dowsing rod with them. The plan was to take the Excalabur in the water and use the rod on land to direct the recovery. After slipping the bonds of grandpa baby sitting, they headed to the lake.

After getting permission to hunt, they went to the edge of the (private) lake and set up. After a few minutes the rod picked up a close target. In went the Excalabur, and was directed to the spot the rod picked. BEEP,,,BEEP,, out comes the scoop and a nice gold class ring pops up. Pretty good for 5 minutes on the hunt.

Now the rod picks another spot and the Excalabur gets on top of it pretty quick. BEEP,,,BEEP, a silver ring makes it out of the water. Dang, this is the best 15 minutes spent hunting yet. The next BEEP,,,BEEP is the blasted cell phone sitting on a bench with the rest of the metal items from the pants pockets. Yep, you guessed it. Baby sitter was needed back at the ranch.

Pictures and the ending comming later as we are going back tomorrow. My thanks to all that have helped to get to this point. LAT

Love the story so far...A great grandpa....

good going fenix, hope you find a pocketfull. also hope the negativeliers don't show up and start chewin' and a spittin'.

10claw, who cares what they say? We got the rings. Had to postpone return trip till tomorrow. This time we are taking scuba tanks and try the deeper water. I had several hits beyond wading depth. Should have photos posted tomorrow. Going to take 2 spinning rod & reels and shoot a sinker down the line from 2 spots and see how it works for pinpointing.

P9200839.webpThe story continues. We got to the lake and put our new Sand Shark on the dredge and dialed it in. This took about an hour. While this was going on, I took the Excalibur and hit the shallow water. Found some change, a cross and a chunk of lead. Now I take the rod and find 2 signals, 1 a little stronger than the other around a platform. I direct the dredge to the first spot, Beep Beep, and here's a pearl ring with 2 small diamonds. The next spot is about 50 ft away, but when the sand shark hits it, the signal is so loud I hear it on shore. Crank the dredge and up comes a gold plated watch. Let's see if I can figure out how to put the pictures up.

Nice finds! How about a little bass fisherman pinpoint method, the line/weight rolled up on small float (toss it out)?

CIMG0848.webpCIMG0852.webpHi Red.

Hope the weather holds for some diving tomorrow. I've got some bright yellow line so you can see it on the bottom. Water is dark enough for a light at 4+ ft. May have to go to 20 ft.

Hi Art;

It's a Tesoro underwater unit. P.I. type that has good penetration and a life time warranty. The unit is loudest in the center of the coil, so it is perfect for the dredge. All of us like the response even though it does not discriminate like a Minelab. I'm using the rod to get us on top of the targets (gold & silver) and that for recovery. Like you always said, "use whatever it takes".

I would love to see a video of your operation. Most people who can use rods to find water or lines seem to fall short when trying it for things like gold and silver. Have you ever thought of shooting a video of it?

Yes....that statement seems to be a popular excuse made by skeptics....Art

Stop with the BS "skeptics" statements. Of every dowsing thread I have read, the VAST MAJORITY will claim they have used rods successfully to trace lines or to find water, but they seem to have no luck when trying to use it find coins, rings, etc. I would love to see video of someone doing it. Dowsing was shown on a recent television show about gold prospecting. I'd love to join the OP if I lived close enough. If he can combine dowsing and detecting, it sounds like a very success merging.

Hi Jason;

Here's the catch. I walk to a spot and scan. I then move to get a better spot for any signal I get. I then move over and shoot an intersecting line to get a location. I do this several times to be sure of the signal. By this time, 5 minutes have passed. Figure another 4 or 5 min. for recovery. That's a long video. It may take longer if 2 targets are close together. If the video has any breaks in it, people yell fraud. Why get into that?

There is a major difference between water pipes, electric lines, and gold or silver. The pipes and lines are generating a huge "force" compared to the coins.
Almost anyone can hit the lines and pipes, but when you go to coins here's a FEW of the considerations. What kinds of metals do you have on you? Any fillings in your teeth? Wallet with magnetic credit cards? Are you wearing a hat to keep the UV off of you? What are the rods made of? What size are they? Did you get to a cardinal direction to scan the target? And believe me, it get's deep from that point. How many young dowsers have you ever heard of? There's a reason for that. It seems to be like algebra, don't understand, don't understand, then boom one day it does. Until that day, it's Greek. No video will make that jump for you.
How about it dowsers? Is this the truth or what?

As a relatively new dowser i can agree with you fenix.

It takes a lot of patience and time just to learn what you are doing. Just like someone starting out with a metal detector you have to go through trial and error before one gets the hang of actually finding what you are looking for. Until a person really gets into dowsing i mean by study reading up on it listening to elder dowsers basically learning they can't understand how it works. I am learning everyday i have my rods out. Ive picked the brain of Tele-prospector quite a bit trying to learn all i can. Like you said there are all sorts of metals in the ground from utility to naturally occurring ones and this is where things get sort of tricky for me is the natural ones. But i have been taught a few tricks to pinpoint what you are looking for and i am working on it. Anyway i couldn't agree with you more it is a learned process and it takes a lot longer to learn it than just watching some videos on it. To understand it is to do it, to do it is understanding it. lol

If I had to pick the most important thing, I would say purity. NO extra metals or magnetic items on you. Next a hat with a brim to keep the sun off you.

Think about this. For centuries water dowsing has been part of life. Why is it so accurate? What percent of your body is water? Hummm. The only thing on us is a sample of the intended target when we hunt.

Yes...about 95 % of people can do that.
but they seem to have no luck when trying to use it find coins, rings, etc.
Yes...that is harder.
I would love to see video of someone doing it.
There are a lot of them

So you have saw a successful Dowsing trip

Many people combine the two treasure hunting method..Larry has been very successful using that method...Art
