I went back to work late in May and since then I haven't had much time to detect, and even less to post finds. I did get to beach hunt in west Florida (Perdido Key Beach), a few weeks ago- the Simplex did fine. I also got to find a cache of 33 (modern) coins, within a 2 foot area, in the park down the street- that I thought I had hunted-out! Then yesterday I got off work and hunted one of my oldest friend's mother's yard- I've known them for 54 years, she's 88yo and the last woman that I will ever call 'Mom". Here's the (best) results of my few times out.
The first 8 are from Florida (ironically I used to work at the plant, in KCMO, that made the .50 cal Armor-Piercing Tracer rounds,), and the 7.92MM 1942 case was made in Canada as a knock-off of a Chinese round- Apparently, to be used by Special Ops on foreign missions (if any cases were found after a gunfight, the Chinese would be blamed)! Unfortunately, the bracelet was the only jewelry I found (DRAT!) but my daughter likes it! The token is a 5-cent 1936-7 Alabama Luxury Tax, and the bottle of coins were found in the 5 days we were there.
The next two photos came from Mom's yard. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Chaffeurs pin, as Mom said that her husband had detected their yard extensively- with a 70s Garrett Fortune Hunter TR.
Keep digging for the gusto!
