i got a spot that had been clear cut last summer. i checked it out a few weeks after they were done a nd found very little evidence, maybe a handful of flakes. after a few good hard rains i went back and found more and more evidence. i started marking the spots that caught my attetion, i knew it was going to eventually grow back over. never had done any digging , but thought i might want to try it, and that seemed to be a great location. its a good size flat that sits about 250 yards away from a nice sized creek. its also less than 1 miles from where that creek dumps into the river. ive been going back every so often and doing a little diggin. maybe 10-12 hours total. i havent got any deeper than 9-10 inches yet, i planned on digging out first then deeper later. i found these in the first spot i dug. looks fort ancient to me but im no expert. would love to hear your opinions. thanks

Very sweet! Well worth waiting for- please keep posting- pour l'histoaire- cest dans des yeux! Et des petit oiseau!! You eat the little birds! c,est vrai- thats the true! la Verre it eh! Verite! poser zen!

Cool find !

Yeah, those are Ft Ancient Points. Do you see any Mussell Shell or Pottery Shards anywhere? If you do then concentrate your efforts on those areas since they may be trash pits and I found some really nice pieces in Ft Ancient trash pits.

These Indians must have been one of the first to open a Casino since you found a nice little Dice. ;D

Yeah buddy, you're into some Ft. Ancient stuff. Rather than dig deeper I'd widen your hole and stay around the same depth as you found the points. That Mississippian - Historic stuff is usually only a couple inches down. Jmo

PS Keep your eyes peeled for bone, beads, and shell too.

thanks for the advice guys. most of those triangles were only 2-3 inches deep. 2 of them were about 6-7 inches deep. i also found flakes at the bottom, which is about 9-10 inches. i think that land was probably farmed at one time. u can see a pretty distinct line in the dirt where it goes from top soil to a harder red dirt, thats all the deeper ive been going for now. i have been keeping my eyes open for beads also. it is definately a new kind of thrill turning them out of the dirt without the assistance of a plow, i really enjoy it. thanks again guys

Congrats Musky, those are awesome. Not easy diggin but worth it.
