Seems like its been taking forever but the fields here are finally getting turned up. Usually the farmers don't start tilling until the last week of May. The weather has been dry recently so until the rain gives them a wash my looking is still on hold. Im sick and tired of looking the same old unplowed areas where even heavy rains don't seem to uncover anything new. If it doesn't rain soon maybe the small streams I look could be prime. Last couple of years the water in the streams and lakeshores have been so high it makes looking nearly impossible. Hope to be posting some nice points soon. Vermont gives up some nice artifacts but being a four season state you have to take advantage when fields and water conditions are at thier best.

We have a similar issue here in central Il.
The farmers are going "no till". They just drill beans thru the corn or bean stubble.
When they plant corn they only disc, which only affects the top 8 inches of soil. No more ploughing.
After 3 or 4 years of looking at the same 8 inches of soil it starts getting used up.
Not to mention you have to look thru last years stubble that still remains on top of the ground.
They all plant roundup beans and corn now so they don't have to field cultvate anymore.
I'ts all because of soil erosion issues and new govt. soil conservation mandates on farming.
Sucks for us hunters.

I hear ya Jonzer! It seems we have to keep looking for more places to go. This is my fourth year of hunting and already some of the places seem burned out. An old buddy to me out hunting the other day and said it's 10X harder than when he went hunting years ago because of the change in farming technology.
