I live in South Florida as well, and from what I've read, if you have the dough, go with a Minelab Excaliber 1000. Next best, my choice, Tesoro Tiger Shark.

I havn't made the purchase yet, but these would be my choice.

Hello, I live in So. Fla also (Hollywood) I use a Excalibur 1000 and love it! Awesome maching! If you're not intending to hunt in the water, the Minelab Sovereign GT is an excellent beach machine. Just my opinion.

thanx everybody for the feedback....cant wait 2 get out there and start hunting

alright everybody....everyone seems to say the minelab 1000...i dont want to go in the water....just along the sand and right along the shore...would any other minelab products work such as the xterra 30,50, etc?? the minelab 1000 i think wouldnt suit my needs because im a beginner and this would be my 1st detector..let me know what everyone thinks

If you dont want to go in the water get the land version of the Excalibur which is the Sovereign you wont be sorry. It is a better beach machine than the Xterra. giving more depth, and less interference in salty each conditions. It is also an excellent all round detector for relic hunting, coin and treasure hunting any where on land.Go to any detecting site and look at owners comments on the machine and you will be convinced.
good luck on your decision seeya Neilo ;D

Hello and good hunting!!! I use minlab SGT and love it, the ciol is water proof and mineralization sand is not a problem! However, you might consider the wieght: it is not light and you may want to use a hip mount with it.

If not, buy a machine that is lightwieght and can handel the beach.

Happy hunting.
