Beginners Don't Overlook Whites Classic 5-ID

Beginners and those short of money would do well to take a good look at the Whites Classic 5-ID.

The features on this model are outstanding and one can pick one up new for about $290-$300 shipped if one looks around.

And this machine is deep...very deep!

In American made machines I'd rate it BEST BUY.

Just put it into the ebay search and look for the best deal. Check out the features and then remember that Whites maintain thier value well.

Just thought you might like to know.

i started on a classic ID, great machine, the only hangup on the ID-5 has been a smaller coil for the 8 kHz, but whites is suppose to release a small DD coil for the ID-5 and prizms soon

I wore mine out.
Found some great stuff with my Classic Id.
It does whisper on those deep coins.

Thanks guys for your input.

For the money and features it's a pretty darn good deal.

One thing I like about all the Whites is they look and feel quality. So many detectors coming out today look and feel so cheap. I guess it's because they are, right?

I'm not primarily a Whites person but I have to give this model the thumbs up.

If depth, speed, and simplicity are most important, I'd still go with the Tesoro Silver uMax and 12x10 concentric coil. That Silver doesn't have the bells & whistles but with that big coil it gets real deep.

That little GC1023 is the way to go if medium depth via mega fast recovery time is your bag. Anytime I hunt a super trashy area I grab my 1023. I also go for it if my back or knee pain is killing me. That 1023 is light as a feather.

But of all the great machines I've ever owned I still put the Minelab Sovereign GT at the top when it comes to coin/relic hunting. For water it's the Minelab Excalibur hands down.

I guess we all should be rich and own them all, right?

I use a Classic ID with a 15" Blue max coil. I like.

The 15"? WOW!

Does that coil pinpoint well?

I used to use the Nautilus with the 15" coil and it was a pain to pinpoint with in some soils.

It actually pinpoints pretty well. And the added depth makes it worth the price. It is a little heavy, but you get use to that.

I know what you mean about the added depth. It can make a big difference at some sites.

I was the 1st member of TreasureNet to post a YouTube video back a couple years ago. It was me testing the Nautilus IIb with the 15" coil. What made it different was I was using this big coil right under powerlines in a super trashy location. All Nautilus users know this is a no no for the 15" coil.

Anyway, I dug small relics like quarter-sized hardness buckles at depths of 15+ inches deep. I was shocked that there was anything that deep to dig.

Those old abandoned beaches would be hot for a big coil.
