I went back to get the rest of the halves from the bank that I mentioned in my last post, and apparently i had misheard the teller - she said she had "several" hundred dollars more, not "seven" hundred like i thought I heard. Still there was $400 left, so i got them. Turns out my first batch was way more productive than this one, which is odd because they were all obviously rolled by the same person. But I still ended up with 11 40%ers: (2)1966, (5)1967, (2)1968, and (2)1969. BUT the best part of it is that the beginners luck did continue - a 1945 Walker!!! That was awesome, and it's in surprisingly good condition. I can't believe that guy missed that one when he was rolling up all the coins to turn in - not that I'm complaining at all! In total from my $600 first try at this game, I ended up with 1 Walker, and 118 40%...not bad for a rookie, huh? So yep, I'm officially addicted (typed as i'm thinking about which bank to hit next...). :)

More than not bad. Thats completely awesome for anyone here coin roll hunting. We would all be happy with those numbers out of $600.

Congratulations,

Beware turning in large amounts to one bank. Try to find a way to split up the turn ins on the clad if you can, or else they will have a meeting about you and come up with some rediculous charge for turning in coin. Like the 10% my banks down here slapped on me. That effectively ended for the time being my hunting. Just when I was getting really really hot too.

Good luck

I belong to a bank that has a self-service change counter, with no charge for account holders. I figure if I just occasionally drop in small batches i'll be fine, i'm not in a big hurry to deposit it all back right away anyways. And I think i was beyond lucky with that first place i checked out, so I don't think I'll be having many unplanned $600 scores anytime soon again...but i'll keep my fingers crossed and a few bucks in my wallet in case i do :)

lucky i never had any beginners luck :'(

Well, I must be really lucky with my bank. As I was buying pennies the other day, the girl that keeps tabs on the vault told me I had brought in just over $4000 in halves in the last year.

Interestingly, I opened an account at Wells-Fargo just so the tellers would help me look for halves. The head teller at the main office told me that anytime they get 10,000 of any one coin, they have the option of sending it to the Federal Reserve for redistribution.

So I guess my bank is just waiting for me to bring in another $1000 worth. ;D
