Beginner's luck?

Howdy all,

My wife and I love this site and decided to give CRH'ing a try at our local bank. We'd never done it before. We live out in the sticks and thought that we might be the only ones in the area doing it. I asked one teller if they had any large size dollar coins and half dollars. She pulled a single '84 half dollar and an Eisenhower dollar out of the drawer, so I asked if they had more in the vault. She told me to speak with the head teller, who audits all that stuff, and said that she had a bag. We went to her, and her bag was a ziploc, with $55.50 worth of JFKs. She mentioned older coins, so I said, "the older the better." To which she replied, "these aren't very old." Anyways, I bought the bag, and after going through it, we ended up with 8 silvers:

2x 90% both 1964
6x 40%

One question: I didn't buy the Ike. Was that a rookie mistake?

Congrats on the silver, it's a great start. I buy the Ikes, sort of a fun savings "mad mad money" plan, got a couple hundred in an old glass chicken feeder. Sometimes it has paid off, I've found four excellent condition proofs and a few very circulated silver clad pieces. There are a few varities that can command a little premium over face depending on condition. Plus, Ikes are no longer minted and there are some coin dealers that will pay small premiums over face.

Thanks for the input. I'm hitting all of our other branches in the area tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes....
