Backyard bugs I've encountered over the summer. Won't be long and they'll alll be gone as it's dipping down into the high 50s through the early morning hours now.
Did you know stinkbugs taste EXACTLY how they smell Grant?

That black beetle looks like hes getting ready to defensively squirt something.

That jumper is cool,I like to watch them hunt,we don't have that color here.

My grandson spotted that little jumping spider. I've seen only a few of those recently and they're pretty tiny.

We have a invasive bug here in the northeast called the Spotted Lantern fly. It feeds on fruit & trees causing a large amount of damage.

Interesting. I've never heard of this invasive bug before. Seems they can survive the cold climate from the look of this recent map. My dad had studied entomology in college and it wasn't because he liked bugs. He wanted them dead. I recall him talking a fair amount on the phone or into his dictaphone about eradicating a bug called the corn borer beetle.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that takes pics of bugs.🤣

I don't want to steel your post up with the ones that are lurking to eat my plants.
Battling the Japanese Beatles and I think I might be spinning a tad in getting the upper hand.

Yeah I thought those were a no good bug of some kind, as they seem to be a recent addition to what's showing up around here in recent years.

I'm still collecting 450-500 daily off the garden/berry patch.
It's a lot better, a month ago it was a large yogurt container daily.
Crack for the chickens.

Well they were eating the leaves of a Virginia creeper which has berries. I've never seen any bug eating the leaves of it before and the birds won't eat the berries until they are completely dried out in the middle of winter.

Check out the App "Seek" when ya get time if you haven't already. It's pretty fun👍

I have iNaturalist installed for a few years now.
Helpful for sure.

This what our trees were subjected to last summer.
Gypsy Moth caterpillars.
