According to sources on another site there are100 centimes in a French franc and a franc is equal to a little over 18 cents so my 50 centime coin would convert to between 9 and 10 cents. And, it is made of bronze.

Yours is 50 centimes from a Belgian franc, not French. At the time the currency was scrapped in favor of the Euro, 40.3399 Belgian francs were equal to the Euro. So it would be worth about the equivalent of 1 US cent. That being said, these are no longer legal tender so it's only value is the numismatic one, just $0.10 or so.

You are correct, it's made from bronze. Here's more info: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1239.html
