The buckle is a U.S.Army musician's waist belt buckle ,I believe post Civil War,1870-1880.

I saw one on a relic site listed for $245,don't know how long it has been for sale.It may have been in a bit better condition.

Wow ,The guy that found this has found 5 of them while digging in his Vegie garden ! ;D I searched it with the detector and found ziltch :'( :D
