Bent Metal ? with U inscription and silver (colored?) plated in one side

This is kind of heavy, non-ferrous, and has a “U” stamped on it...similar to style I have seen on some bullet shells but I don’t see a connection.

Any ideas about identification are appreciated!

It looks like the top plate to a desktop pen holder, missing the holder cone.. and the base .. similar to this one:

Oh..just saw this after your post about the “long piece”. There was a pen found..pictured at the bottom of JPC posting. Perhaps you are onto something here. Thanks always for your input...and Congrats on your nice finds as well
